Bytes is the first app I published on the App Store, way back in August 2014. It is a data usage monitor — it keeps track of how much data you’ve used over mobile networks (i.e. 5G, LTE, 4G, etc.) and Wi-Fi. You can configure data usage limits and custom notifications, so that you don’t go over your plan’s allowance. It was made with great design and privacy in mind. The only external calls Bytes performs are those requested by my banner ad provider.
While Bytes has always been available for download since its inception, I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to work on it, which is evident from the lack of recent updates. Nevertheless, I am working on a big update — rewriting the Objective-C code in Swift, and updating the UI, among other things — and I look forward to sharing more details as it approaches release.
Bytes is available for free on the App Store. There is an optional in-app purchase that removes the banner ads, available for USD $1.99 (or the equivalent in your region/currency). Bytes was originally made for iOS, but it also works on iPad and Macs with Apple silicon.
